FUNG, Andrew Chau-Ngan August 27, 1950 - May 14, 2011 Andrew Fung, beloved husband of Eliza Fung of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the age of 60 years. Andrew was born in Hong Kong, and moved to Canada as a teenager. He attended high school in Yorkton and Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1971, Andrew moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where he met his wife, Eliza. They settled in Calgary, Alberta, which has been their home for the past forty years and is the birthplace of their daughter, Andrea. Andrew took his family for a brief adventure to Burnaby, British Columbia, where they lived from 1991 to 1994. Andrew was an avid sportsman and he enjoyed playing badminton, basketball and golf. Andrew was a generous, caring and hardworking individual, who lived by example. He believed that every person should be treated with respect and kindness, and approached each challenge with patience and perseverance. Andrew courageously battled cancer since his diagnosis in 2008. He maintained a positive outlook throughout his battle, and his sense of humour and charming personality remained until his last moments. Andrew was a loving husband and father; he will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew him. Andrew is survived by his wife Eliza Fung and their daughter Andrea Fung. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service will follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. GILBERTSON, Blanche Leadlay 1915 - 2011 Blanche passed peacefully away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at age 95. Blanche is survived by her five children: Sylvia (Don Stevenson), Keith (Jeannette), Tex (Mary Jayne), Beverley and Grant (Jan) and one brother Frank Leadlay. She is lovingly remembered by fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Blanche had a long and rewarding life. She was predeceased by two husbands: William Gilbertson (1940) and Wilfrid Harlan Gilbertson (1971), two brothers and her sister. Melody will also be missed by Betty, who shared her journey. She is preceded in death by her parents, Les and Mary Kosinec; auntie Anne and uncle Bill. LEE, Shirley Kathleen (Wiseman) Shirley passed away peacefully on May 15, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born on October 31, 1933 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Angus and Violet Wiseman. She was predeceased by her father Angus in 1963; husband Gordon in 1968; and mother Violet in 2010. Shirley will be dearly missed and remembered always by her four children and their families Larry (Christine), Linda (Larry), Laurie (Ken), and Lorne (Marbry). A grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley leaves behind nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom she deeply loved. She was a long-term resident of Standard (Wiseman's Corner), and Strathmore. Shirley had a kind and generous heart and will be missed by her family and numerous friends. LUSK, Ronald John September 5, 1935 - May 13, 2011 Ron Lusk passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 76 years. Ron was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan to Edward and Eleanor Lusk. He married Helen (Cairns) in 1958 in Vancouver, B.C. They lived in Swift Current, Saskatchewan for several years before moving to Calgary, Alberta, where they continued to raise their four children, and have lived for over thirty-five years. Ron worked as a realtor for twenty-five years in the area. In retirement, he had an avid interest in antiques, routinely attending garage sales, auctions, and antique markets. He always had some unique and interesting antiques to show you when you stopped by to visit. He enjoyed a good game of crib, never refused to listen to a good joke, and always had a good story to tell. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends. Family he leaves to mourn his passing include his wife Helen, brother Ken (Vivian) of Swift Current, Saskatchewan; daughter Shannon (Pat) George of Green Hills, Nova Scotia; sons Michael, Bradley (Brenda), and Jeffrey (Karen) of Calgary, Alberta; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard (1990), and daughter-in-law Carolyn (2008). The family sincerely thanks those who have offered comfort and kindness at this difficult time, with special thanks to Gil and Sharon Carlson. Heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. G. Georgina was born in Weyburn, SK and moved to Calgary, graduating from the U of C with her Bachelor of Education. She met Gord, the love of her life, in Calgary and married in 1975. Georgina worked as an advocate with at risk youth, children and their families. Georgina will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the many children she parented throughout her career and the families she helped. McPHEE, Ronald "Ron" George May 15, 1937 - May 9, 2011 In loving memory of Ronald George McPhee as he passed away after a brief struggle with cancer at age 73. Ron was born in Red Deer, AB, the youngest son of Jim and Minnie McPhee. His time was spent surrounded by family and friends, including his wife of fifty-two years, Geri McPhee; his older brother Ernest McPhee of Red Deer; his son Rick McPhee; his daughters, Joanne McPhee (Andrew Gibson), Teri-Lyn McPhee-Deatrich (Troy Deatrich) and Kelly Sawatzky; and three grandchildren, Cassie Deatrich, Mitchel Deatrich and Victoria Gibson-McPhee. He had many other family and friends who loved him dearly and will cherish his memory. He was a lifetime member of the Huntington Hills Community Association and was an avid member of the Curling Club. He was a passionate outdoorsman who spent much of his life fishing and gardening. Among his colleagues he was well-reputed to be a friendly and hardworking man, and he always put his family first. We would like to extend many thanks to the nurses of Alberta Health Services Homecare and the staff of Agape Hospice for all of their kindness and loving care. O'BRIEN TWADDLE, Catherine Margaret October 11, 1951 - May 8, 2011 Catherine O'Brien Twaddle, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa, from complications after malaria. Eldest daughter of six, Cathie was born in Pembroke, ON, on October 11, 1951. Cathie attended Bishop High School in Calgary, graduating from high school in Red Deer. She also graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Communications. She was employed by AGT, Husky Oil, and Nova Corp Chemicals in Calgary. While at university she worked for Ralph Klein and the planning and fire departments leading on to working for Ambassadors and Heads of Mission in Libya. Cathie then took up renovating houses in the UK and France. In 1987 Cathie and Don became "oilpatch gypsies" living and working throughout the world; Libya, Nigeria, Angola, Oman, Brunei, and lastly in Port Noire, Congo. They setup a base in Brittany, France in 2003; but felt that their home was anywhere they were together. Mourning her, is her beloved husband and loving partner Don of twenty-eight years, father Ted of Calgary, mother Ramona of West Kelowna; and sisters, Maureen (Chuck) of Calgary, Shelagh (Konrad) of Golden, BC, Rebecca (Donn); and brothers, Patrick and Terry (Lilly) all of Calgary, AB. Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through, . WEIN, June Allison (nee Clooney) Born January 28, 1928, died peacefully on May 13, 2011 at the age of 83 years after a brief illness. Mourned by her daughters, Catherine and Julie (Peter); her beloved grandchildren, Carolyn and Stephen; great-granddaughter, Ayla; her brother, PJ; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. June was a dedicated teacher and counselor for over 27 years in Edmonton. She was an avid baker, voracious reader and a talented amateur seamstress with a renowned sense of style who loved nothing better than to laugh and share a good story. She was courageous, fiercely loyal to her family and friends and valued her independence to the end. A political and current affairs junkie, CBC Radio 1 and PBS were her favorite sources of information and occasionally consternation. June was a lifelong and proud Liberal who may have chosen to leave this earth rather than face a Conservative majority government. June was predeceased by her parents, Jimmy and Vera Clooney and her sister, Sheelagh. Special thanks to the dedicated ICU staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their tireless care and support in her final days. At Junes request, there will be no Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place and for those who would like to pay their last respects, a Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street, Edmonton from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends will be notified of the date and time of a planned Memorial Celebration of Junes life.
